Chapter History

Our first meeting was held in October of 1999. We became an official chapter of Women in Aviation, International on May 4th, 2000.

Soon after achieving official chapter status, we started fundraising for a scholarship fund. The first scholarship was awarded at the WAI Annual Conference in 2005, in the amount of $500 and has since increased to $1500. In 2010, our scholarship was renamed The Janet Clark Memorial Scholarship, in honor of an impactful chapter member.

In 2014, we added a second scholarship, in memory of Yukiko Howell. It is named The Yukiko Howell Memorial STEM Scholarship, valued at $1,500.

A 3rd scholarship is in-work for Washington State applicants only and is being made available by the generous donation from Karyn F. King. This is called the SkyQueenKing Scholarship.
