Chapter History

Our first meeting was held in October of 1999, with nine people attending. We became an official chapter of Women in Aviation, Int'l on May 4, 2000.

Soon after achieving official chapter status, we started fundraising for a scholarship fund; the first scholarship was awarded at the WAI Annual Conference in 2005. That first scholarship was in the amount of $500 and has since increased to $1500. This scholarship was originally named the Washington State Scholarship; in 2010 it was renamed The Janet Clark Memorial Scholarship, to honor a chapter member who had passed.

In 2014 we added a second scholarship, in memory of another member who had passed; it is named The Yukiko Howell Memorial STEM Scholarship. This scholarship is also in the amount of $1500.
